What is backup, what is it for and how to configure it

Backup, in other words, is a duplicate of data. Backing up is a regular duplication of the original data and its recovery in case of loss, which can occur for many reasons, such as: program failure, failure of storage location, deletion, human factor.

And now we'll tell you how to download the backup, as well as how to configure the backup downloading to the storage that would be convenient for you.

How to download a backup

First, you need to enter the “Control Panel” of the hosting.

When registering hosting, an e-mail was sent, we recommend printing it for future convinience. In this e-mail, you can find all the necessary data to go to the required mode of operation: URL, login and password.

After successfully logging in to the page, go to the “Tools” section (located on the left), then select “Backups”, also, if necessary, on this page you can find links explaining ISPmanager backup principles and backup encryption in detail.

Then select the necessary copy (by clicking on the desired line) and click the “Download” button

How to set up backup uploading to external services

In order to configure the saving of your backups, you need to click the configuration button (yellow gear) on the storage convenient for you.

In the window that appears, you need to tick the “Customize your own storage” checkbox.

Choose the type of storage from the offered options (Dropbox, Google Drive, Yandex Disk, Amazon S3, FTP, SFTP).

Enter the “backup password”; remember that if the field remains empty, the data will not be encrypted.

To get the access code you need to go to the link and log in to your selected storage, after successful authorization the access code will be entered automatically. If necessary, you can also enter the path to backups.

Click the "OK" button.
